Our Aim: to breed Performance Cattle GENEtics.

Thanks for visiting from the King Family.

How we started

A brief history, we started the stud back in 2005. The Owner/Manager, Malcolm King grew up on his parents Angus Stud in North West New South Wales near the town of Tamworth & then later at Wingham.
Malcolm attended Tocal College before University at UWS Hawkesbury in Western Sydney. After Ag college and graduating University. Malcolm  had a stint in Agri-marketing before he began working at the
Animal Business Research Institute (ABRI) in Armidale, NSW.

During his time at ABRI, he managed perfomance scores/Breedplan analysis for several beef breeds before also becoming General Manager of the Australian Gelbvieh Association. This was where Malcolm developed a keen interest in Gelbvieh and extensive knowledge of the cattle and their maternal/growth benefits.

The first pure Gelbvieh female cows that started the herd were purchased from the dispersal of Lesley Marchant's 'Magnus Gelbvieh Stud' near Wellington, NSW.  These females were in calf to a (well known American Gelbvieh AI sire) a 'Freedom' son and hence the stud was started. As time went on the females were mated to many leading International AI sires as well as quality pure bred Gelbvieh herd sires. The offspring of these matings form the herd today.

Over the years many more cattle have been bred and several purchased from dispersal sales across Australia to add to the female lines. The herd is made up of several bloodlines, as a result the cattle are we believe a terrific example of Gelbvieh cattle in both the Gold (Red) & or Black coat colour.

Originally Gelbvieh are from the Bavarian or Southern region of Germany and were bred for beef consumption as well as for milk & to pull farm equipment (draft).

Apart from Gelbvieh cattle we also have a herd of pure Angus cows. We have crossed some our commercial and stud cows to leading Gelbvieh which have been used to breed what are called 'Balancer' calves. These calves are outstanding, having been bred with heterosis/vigor & the best traits of both breeds.

Please see our 'Balancer' link above for photos & more information.
